a portrait from a project for Street Factory Studios, a series of illustrations of the team at STF. Tobias Gorniak (AKA Toby G) is the co-founder of Street Factory Studios, alongside his wife Jo, and was awarded an MBE for his work in 2018. Together, they have a built a thriving and positive community in Plymouth, in which anyone is welcome to Street Factory. Their teaching are based around the Five E (Elements) which are:
. Respect
. Peace
. Love
. Unity
. Having Fun
Toby has been one of my mentors from a young age, when I first joined Street Factory back in 2009. STF has helped me to grow and develop my confidence in both dancing and social skills, as well as an inspiration and a subject for my style of illustration.
A commissioned portrait of Chris Gilchrist, the founder of Rhythm City dance studios based in Plymouth, England. Rhythm City have won many championships and trophies through competing at national competitions. This man has been a huge hand in putting Plymouth on the map for Street Dance, and has always had top level dancers from all different styles (Krumping, Breaking, House to name a few) come to teach workshops at Rhythm City.
A commissioned portrait of Alan Laszczak, a talented Videographer, Photographer and Dancer. I had the pleasure of training and jamming with this guy when we were younger - feels like a century ago.
A commissioned portrait of JR (Josh Rumbold), a very talented photographer and dancer now based in London. Josh was one of the main popping teachers at Street Factory studios, and is one of the biggest influencers in my dance. His knowledge and wisdom has helped me to grow and develop as a dancer and performer. I was quite a shy child when I was in my early teens, but through the help of Street Factory and Josh, they were able to help build my confidence and mould me into the dancer that I am today.
A digital reworking of a sketch I did of a gentleman watch the royal wedding live. I love to go out and sketch people whilst out and about, as I get to capture so many different personalities and looks.
A digital reworking of an observational sketch from my sketchbook that I carry with me, wherever I go.
A commissioned portrait of Kallum, a really cool dude who boxes for the Royal Navy. His pitbull is pretty cool too. You can check him out further down the page.
One portrait from a project for Street Factory Studios, a series of illustrations for the team at STF. This is Perry, a dope B-Boy and all-around dancer who I have the pleasure of knowing through Street Factory, where both myself and Perry teach on a regular basis. A very good friend full of knowledge and willing to give back to the dance community.
A personal project, that started out as a study of body proportions, but then quickly progressed into this figure. This was my first time using Adobe Illustrator, learning how to digitally illustrate.
